*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Harris Brake Lake, located in central Arkansas near Perryville, is a shallow reservoir known for its calm waters and surrounding wetlands. Because of its limited depth and the state’s humid subtropical climate, the lake warms and cools quickly with the seasons. In winter, water temperatures usually range between 7–10 °C (45–50 °F). During spring, the water gradually warms as the days lengthen, averaging 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). By midsummer, the surface reaches its warmest levels, typically between 26–30 °C (79–86 °F), while deeper spots remain slightly cooler. In autumn, the lake begins to cool again, with temperatures dropping to around 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) before returning to winter conditions.
Swimming in Harris Brake Lake is allowed, but it is not one of the main recreational activities for which the lake is known. While the water becomes comfortably warm for swimming from late May through early September, the shallow depth and presence of aquatic vegetation make the experience less ideal compared to deeper, clearer lakes nearby. The lake is primarily used for fishing, boating, and birdwatching within Harris Brake Wildlife Management Area. Swimmers who do enter the water during the summer should use caution and stick to open areas away from dense vegetation and wildlife habitats.
