** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Karjeras is a common name for quarry lakes in Lithuania, and their water temperatures follow seasonal patterns typical for relatively deep, clear bodies of water. In spring surface temperatures usually range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the lake mixes and warms, while in summer the surface commonly reaches 17–24 °C (63–75 °F) on warm days though deeper layers remain much colder. In autumn temperatures decline to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and in winter the lake is often at or below 4 °C (39 °F) under ice. Because quarry lakes can be stratified, the surface reading can be noticeably warmer than water a few metres down, where temperatures often remain near 4–6 °C (39–43 °F) even in summer.
Swimming at a Karjeras lake may be permitted in many locations but the status varies locally: some sites are open for recreational use while others are fenced off or officially prohibited for safety, environmental protection, or private ownership reasons. Even where swimming is allowed, quarry lakes pose hazards such as steep drop-offs, submerged machinery or debris, sudden cold-water shocks and absence of lifeguards. If visiting, follow posted rules, avoid alcohol, enter feet first from safe points, and be aware that cold deep water can cause hypothermia and impair swimming ability despite warm surface temperatures.
