** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Žuvintas is a shallow, ecologically important lake in southern Lithuania, famous for its extensive reedbeds and birdlife. Because of its shallowness, water temperatures vary strongly with the seasons: in late winter and early spring the surface water is often close to freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F); in spring and early summer it typically warms to about 5–15 °C (41–59 °F); by midsummer surface temperatures can reach roughly 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) on warm days; and in autumn it cools back toward about 5–12 °C (41–54 °F). These values can vary year to year and between open water and sheltered reed-fringed bays, where warming is faster but water clarity and oxygen levels differ.
Swimming opportunities at Žuvintas are limited and generally discouraged because the lake lies within a protected biosphere and strict nature reserve aimed at conserving breeding and migratory birds and fragile wetland habitats. Public access is regulated, there are few or no formal bathing facilities, and reedbeds and shallow, nutrient-rich water can support dense vegetation and algal blooms that reduce safety and enjoyment. Visitors seeking to swim in the region should check local regulations and choose designated recreational lakes where bathing is explicitly permitted.
