*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Keuka Lake, one of New York’s Finger Lakes, shows clear seasonal shifts in surface water temperature. In winter the surface commonly sits near freezing, roughly 33–40°F (1–4°C). Spring warming brings temperatures into the 40–60°F range (4–15°C) as the lake loses its ice cover and stratification begins. Summer is when the surface gets warmest, typically in the mid‑60s to low‑80s Fahrenheit (about 18–28°C), with the warmest stretches in July and August; deeper water remains much cooler year‑round, often 40–50°F (4–10°C) even in summer because of thermal stratification. In fall the surface cools back toward 50–65°F (10–18°C) as mixing returns.
Swimming is allowed and regularly practiced in Keuka Lake, especially at public beaches, parks, campgrounds and private waterfronts, because many access points are open and water quality is generally suitable for recreation. Local authorities and health departments monitor conditions and may post advisories or closures when harmful algal blooms, high bacterial counts, or unsafe weather and lake conditions occur. Swimmers should stick to designated areas, be aware of colder deep water and boat traffic, and heed posted notices for safety.
