*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Hemlock Lake, one of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York, tends to be cool year-round because it is relatively deep and oligotrophic. Typical surface temperatures run from near freezing in winter — around 32°F (0°C) with ice cover common — to roughly 40–55°F (4–13°C) in spring as the lake thaws. In mid to late summer the surface often warms to about 60–75°F (16–24°C), occasionally reaching the high 70s°F (around 25–26°C) during heat spells; however, deeper water stays much colder, often in the 40s°F (4–9°C) even in summer. During fall the surface cools back into the mid-40s to low 60s°F (7–16°C) as the lake mixes and temperatures decline.
Swimming in Hemlock Lake is generally not permitted because the lake is managed as a municipal water supply and is subject to protections intended to preserve water quality and reduce contamination risks. Restrictions are intended to limit direct-contact recreation and motorized use that could affect the watershed; as a result, traditional public swimming opportunities are not available at the lake, and visitors should follow posted rules and local management guidance for permitted activities.
