Lake Kannonselkä, situated in Central Finland near the town of Kannonkoski, is a clear freshwater lake surrounded by pine forests and peaceful countryside. Its moderate size and depth influence how the water warms and cools throughout the year. In spring, soon after the ice melts, the surface water temperature is around 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). By early summer, it rises to 14–17 °C (57–63 °F), and in July, the warmest period, the temperature usually reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). On particularly warm days, sheltered bays may briefly reach 23–24 °C (73–75 °F). By late autumn, the water cools below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake typically freezes in November or December.
Swimming in Lake Kannonselkä is allowed and common during the summer season. The water is clean, and small public beaches and natural swimming spots can be found around Kannonkoski.
