*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Hafslovatnet (Norwegian: Hafslovatnet) is a freshwater lake in Vestland County, Norway, surrounded by farmland and steep hills. Water temperatures vary considerably through the year: in spring (April–May) surface temperatures are commonly around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) as snowmelt cools the lake, while in summer (June–August) they typically rise to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) and on warm late-summer days can approach 20 °C (68 °F) in shallow bays. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall back to roughly 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), and in winter the lake often sits close to freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where ice forms in cold spells.
Swimming at Hafslovatnet is generally allowed and common in the warmer months because Norway’s access rights (allemannsretten) permit public use of many freshwater areas. Local residents and visitors bathe from gentle shores, docks and small beaches when conditions are mild. Caution is advised: the water can be cold even in summer, there are no guaranteed lifeguards, and currents near in- and outflows can be stronger than they appear. Those planning to swim should check local conditions, stay close to shore, and be prepared for sudden temperature changes to reduce the risk of cold shock and hypothermia.
