*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
East Park Reservoir in California experiences a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In winter the surface can be very cold, often around 35–45°F (2–7°C), and in early spring it typically remains cool at roughly 45–60°F (7–15°C). By summer the shallow surface layer warms to its high point, commonly between 68–75°F (20–24°C) on warm afternoons, though this varies with air temperature and sunlight. In autumn the reservoir cools again, with surface readings around 50–65°F (10–18°C). Like many reservoirs, East Park often develops thermal stratification in summer: a warmer, thin surface layer sits above much colder water, so temperatures drop rapidly with depth.
Swimming at East Park Reservoir is generally possible and commonly done in the warmer months, but it is not a supervised beach environment. There may be no lifeguards, and boating activity, sudden depth changes, submerged hazards and cold-water shock from deeper water create risks. Because the reservoir can be significantly colder below the surface and temperatures change quickly with season and weather, swimmers should exercise caution, enter slowly, avoid alcohol, wear a flotation device if uncertain, and check local signage or campground rules for any restrictions before entering the water.
