Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Crowe Lake, located near Marmora in eastern Ontario, is a mid-sized freshwater lake known for its clear water and scenic surroundings. The water temperature in Crowe Lake changes notably with the seasons due to its moderate depth and central Ontario climate. In winter, the lake typically freezes, with water temperatures close to 0 °C (32 °F). During spring, the melting ice and runoff keep the water cool, averaging 5–10 °C (41–50 °F). By midsummer, the surface warms significantly, reaching 20–25 °C (68–77 °F), while deeper areas remain a few degrees cooler. In autumn, as the air cools, the lake temperature drops again to about 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) before ice begins to form once more.
Swimming in Crowe Lake is a popular summer activity, particularly from late June through early September, when the water reaches its most comfortable temperatures. The lake’s sandy and gravelly shores, especially near Crowe Lake Beach Park, provide ideal spots for families and casual swimmers. The water is clean and generally calm, making it suitable for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. However, outside the summer season, cold temperatures and changing weather make swimming unsafe and unpleasant. Despite its short swimming window, Crowe Lake remains an inviting place for recreation and lakeside relaxation throughout the warm months.
