*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Cordell Hull Reservoir on the Cumberland River experiences a wide seasonal swing in surface water temperatures typical of middle Tennessee reservoirs. In winter the surface commonly drops into the mid-30s to around 50°F (about 2 to 10°C). Spring warming brings temperatures into the 50s and 60s up to roughly 70°F (10 to 21°C) as the season progresses. Summer is when the lake is warmest, with surface readings frequently in the mid-70s to mid-80s °F (about 24 to 29°C) during heat spells. In autumn the water cools back through the 50s and 60s °F (around 13 to 21°C), with turnover and variable temperatures depending on recent weather.
Swimming at Cordell Hull is possible, but it is generally an unguarded, self-regulated activity rather than formally supervised beach operations. There are boat ramps, parks, and informal shoreline spots people use for bathing and recreation, but many areas have boat traffic, submerged structures, steep drop-offs and occasional strong currents near releases or inflows, so caution is advised. Water-quality conditions such as algae can also vary seasonally, and local advisories or park rules should be observed. In short, swimming is allowed in many parts of the reservoir but must be approached with awareness of safety hazards and changing temperatures.
