J. Percy Priest Reservoir, often called Percy Priest Lake near Nashville, experiences notable seasonal shifts in surface water temperature. In winter the lake typically cools to roughly 35–50°F (2–10°C), rising through spring to about 50–70°F (10–21°C) as air temperatures warm. By summer the surface commonly reaches 75–85°F (24–29°C) and can climb into the upper 80s or around 90°F (30–32°C) during heat spells. In fall the water gradually falls back into the 55–70°F (13–21°C) range.
