*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Green River Lake in central Kentucky experiences noticeable seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In winter the lake often drops into the mid-30s to mid-40s °F (about 2–7 °C), while spring warming typically brings surface temperatures up to the low 50s to mid-60s °F (10–18 °C). By summer, surface readings commonly reach the 70s to low 80s °F (21–28 °C), with occasional warm spells pushing localized surface water toward the mid-80s °F (around 29 °C). In fall the lake cools again, generally ranging from the mid-50s to low 70s °F (13–22 °C). Those numbers vary by depth, shoreline exposure and recent weather, and deeper water remains substantially colder than the surface year-round.
Swimming is allowed at Green River Lake in designated recreation areas because the lake is managed for multiple public uses, including boating and bathing. Public beaches and day-use sites open seasonally and some carry posted advisories or restrictions based on water quality, storms or maintenance; not all sites have lifeguards, so visitors should heed signage and exercise caution. Cold water below the surface, sudden drop-offs, submerged hazards and changing conditions make it important to check local notices and practice standard water-safety measures before entering.
