Black Lake (Črno jezero) in Slovenia is a mountain lake lying at an altitude of over 1300 meters. Because of its height and location in a shaded forested area, the water here stays cold throughout most of the year. In summer, surface temperatures can briefly reach 15–18°C, but the water is usually cooler, especially below the top layer. Outside the warmest months, it often remains below 10°C.
Swimming in Black Lake is technically possible, but it is not a typical bathing spot. The lake is shallow, peat-colored, and surrounded by protected nature, so most visitors come for hiking and views rather than for swimming. Those who do take a dip should be ready for very refreshing water and only short stays in it.
