*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bass Lake’s water temperatures change noticeably through the year because it is a mountain reservoir with variable depth and inputs from snowmelt. In spring surface readings commonly sit in the roughly 50–65°F range (10–18°C) as snowmelt and cooler air keep the water cold. By summer the surface often warms into the high 60s to upper 70s °F (about 20–26°C), and on hot spells shallow bays can reach the low 80s °F (around 27–28°C). Temperatures generally taper off in fall, returning to something like 55–70°F (13–21°C), while winter surface values frequently fall to the 40–50°F range (4–10°C); deeper water remains colder year-round and warms or cools more slowly than shallow coves.
Swimming at Bass Lake is allowed and is a common recreational activity during the warmer months when surface temperatures are most comfortable. Many visitors swim from beaches and private shorelines, but large parts of the lake are unsupervised and boating traffic, variable depth and cold-water shock in shoulder seasons present real hazards. Because conditions vary by location and season, swimmers should choose sheltered, warmer coves, be aware of boat zones, and take standard safety precautions; local signage and marina rules provide site-specific guidance.
