*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Selbusjøen (Norwegian: Selbusjøen) in Trøndelag is a large inland lake with fairly distinct seasonal temperature shifts. After ice melt in spring the surface water is cold, often in the range of about 1–10 °C (34–50 °F). By early summer temperatures commonly rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), and in the warmest weeks of July and August surface readings can reach approximately 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) at popular bathing spots. In autumn the lake cools again, typically dropping to around 4–12 °C (39–54 °F), and in winter Selbusjøen frequently approaches freezing with surface temperatures near 0 °C (32 °F) where ice can form.
Swimming in Selbusjøen is generally allowed and is a common recreational activity because the lake is publicly accessible and features beaches, boat ramps and shoreline paths. Local water quality is usually suitable for bathing, but conditions vary with weather, runoff and occasional algal occurrences, so it is sensible to heed municipal guidance and posted signs. Safety considerations include the cold water outside high summer, potential currents near inlets and outlets, boat traffic and the absence of lifeguards at many sites; these factors influence how and when people choose to swim.
