** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kallsjön, a lake in Jämtland County, typically has cold to cool water for much of the year because of its northern location and elevation. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures often range from about 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as the ice thaws and the lake mixes. In summer (June–August) the warmest period, surface temperatures commonly reach 12–22 °C (54–72 °F), with sheltered bays warming fastest on sunny days. In autumn (September–October) the water cools to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as air temperatures fall, and in winter the surface is typically at or just above freezing, about 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) beneath ice cover where present.
Swimming in Kallsjön is generally allowed; Sweden’s right of public access and the absence of widespread prohibitions mean people commonly swim there in summer when temperatures are most comfortable. Caution is important year-round because there are usually no lifeguards, water can be cold even in summer at depth, and cold-water shock is a real risk in spring and autumn. Ice swimming is practiced by some in winter but should only be attempted with proper experience, safety equipment and local knowledge of ice thickness. Always respect local signs and private shoreline access rules.
