*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Akkajaure (Swedish: Akkajaure) is a large mountain reservoir in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. Because it lies far north and is regulated for hydroelectric power, its water temperatures are generally low. Seasonal surface temperatures typically run near freezing in winter, about 0 °C (32 °F) when ice and snow are present; during spring melt they rise slowly to roughly 0–5 °C (32–41 °F). In summer the warmest months often see surface temperatures from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), though shallow, sheltered bays can be slightly warmer on particularly sunny years. In autumn the water cools again to around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) before ice forms.
Swimming in Akkajaure is physically possible but limited by the cold water and operational conditions. There are no general prohibitions on recreational swimming, but hazards include very low temperatures that can cause cold shock and hypothermia, sudden water level changes and currents related to dam releases, and ice for much of the year. Because of these risks, swimming is typically short and cautious, often with wetsuits or drysuits used by visitors. It is advisable to heed local signage, avoid areas close to hydroelectric installations, and not swim alone.
