*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Stora Lulevatten (Swedish: Stora Lulevatten) in Norrbotten County is a northern Swedish lake where water temperatures are strongly seasonal and generally cool. After ice break in late spring surface temperatures typically range from about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F). In the warmest months of July and August surface water commonly reaches roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), and shallow sheltered bays can occasionally warm toward 20 °C (68 °F) in very warm summers. In autumn the lake cools quickly to about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) and in winter it is usually frozen with water under the ice near 0–1 °C (32–34 °F). Temperatures vary with weather, depth and location, so local conditions can differ from these typical ranges.
Swimming in Stora Lulevatten is generally permitted; Sweden’s allemansrätt (freedom to roam) allows public access to most lakes unless specific restrictions are posted. However, practical swimming opportunities depend on season and safety: summer swimming is feasible where shore access is safe and water is warmer, while winter open-water swimming is hazardous because of ice and near-freezing temperatures and requires specialized preparation and safety precautions. Visitors should check for local notices about water quality, access points and any temporary restrictions, and be mindful of cold-water risks such as rapid onset of hypothermia.
