Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Nedre Veikvatnet is a freshwater lake in Nordland County whose surface temperatures vary widely with the seasons because of the northern climate. In summer months (June–August) the water can warm to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) on warm, calm days, though cooler temperatures are common early and late in the season. Spring and autumn temperatures typically range from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as the lake responds slowly to air temperature changes. In winter the surface is often at or near freezing, around 0 °C (32 °F), and parts of the lake may be ice-covered for extended periods.
Swimming at Nedre Veikvatnet is possible and commonly undertaken in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable, and there are no general national prohibitions on entering natural lakes in Norway. However, local conditions matter: ice cover, cold shock risk, limited access points, private shoreline ownership, and any posted restrictions should be checked before entering the water. Cold water even in summer can be hazardous, so using a wetsuit, avoiding solo swims, and being aware of hypothermia symptoms are prudent. For winter activities, only ice swimming should be attempted with appropriate safety measures and knowledge of ice thickness.
