This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lago Agnel is an alpine reservoir in Piedmont’s high valleys near the Nivolet area; sitting at high elevation it receives snowmelt and glacial runoff, so its water remains cold for most of the year. Seasonal surface temperatures typically start very low in spring, around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) as the ice melts, rise in midsummer to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) on warm days, and then fall again in early autumn toward the 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) range before refreezing in winter. In winter the lake is usually frozen or very near freezing, with surface ice and subzero air temperatures common at high altitude.
Swimming is physically possible but not the same as in lowland lakes, and it is commonly discouraged for safety and operational reasons. The reservoir’s cold temperatures present a significant risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia even in summer, and steep shores, sudden depth changes and hydroelectric operations can create hazards; there are generally no lifeguards or facilities. Additionally, because it is part of a managed water system and lies in a sensitive mountain environment, local authorities or signage may restrict bathing. Visitors interested in swimming should check current local rules and be prepared for very cold water and mountain conditions.
