❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 47°F (8°C) to 50°F (10°C). This is still cool water, suitable only for experienced swimmers or those accustomed to cold water. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lago di Malciaussia is a high‑altitude artificial reservoir in the Graian Alps of Piedmont, fed by snowmelt and mountain streams, so its water remains cold through the year. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range from near freezing in winter, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) when ice and snow are common, to spring values around 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as thaw progresses. In summer the warmest months usually see surface temperatures roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), with occasional warm spells pushing local spots toward 15–16 °C (59–61 °F). Autumn brings a rapid decline back toward single digits, often 3–8 °C (37–46 °F), as inflows cool and daylight shortens.
Swimming at Lago di Malciaussia is generally discouraged and in some cases restricted. The cold temperatures create a significant risk of cold‑water shock and hypothermia even on warm days, and the reservoir’s dam operations can cause sudden changes in water level and currents. Additionally, many alpine reservoirs are managed for hydroelectric production or water supply, which may carry official prohibitions or safety signage; as a result, visitors should assume that bathing may be unsafe or not permitted and always check local rules and notices before entering the water.
