Location & Local Information
Vyshhorod is located just north of Kyiv, on the right bank of the Dnieper River, where the Kyiv Reservoir begins. Because of its location near the dam, the water here tends to be slightly cooler than in the lower parts of the Dnieper. During summer, the surface temperature usually ranges between 21–25°C, depending on weather and wind direction. The water warms up more slowly in spring but remains relatively stable and comfortable for swimming throughout July and August.
Swimming in Vyshhorod is possible mainly along the calmer sections of the shore, away from the dam and boat traffic. The city has several informal beach areas and gentle sandy banks where locals come to relax and swim. The water is generally clean enough for recreation, especially on warm, still days when the current is mild. Because of its scenic surroundings and wide open view of the reservoir, the area is popular for both swimming and evening walks by the water.
