*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Dnieper River within the city limits of Kyiv is the main water artery shaping summer recreation opportunities. Due to its significant area and moderate current, the water in the river warms up very well during the summer months. At the peak of the swimming season, typically in July and August, the water temperature in the Dnieper near the capital ranges within a comfortable +22 to +25∘C, and can even reach +27 to +28∘C during particularly hot spells, making swimming highly enjoyable.
Regarding swimming opportunities, Kyiv has designated beach areas primarily located on islands (Trukhaniv Island, Hydropark) and along the banks. Although city authorities regularly designate beaches as recommended for recreation (where cleanup is done and lifeguards are present), the water quality for swimming does not always meet sanitary standards in all areas, especially after heavy rains. Nevertheless, beaches like Tsentralnyi, Venetsiya, Zoloty, or Molodizhnyi are traditional spots for mass recreation.
Even with official wartime prohibitions on swimming, the banks of the Dnieper and its tributary Desenka remain favorite places for Kyiv residents seeking refreshment. It is important to note that the water is often cleaner in tributaries, such as the Desenka, or at well-maintained beaches where constant monitoring is conducted. Therefore, those wishing to swim should prioritize officially recognized and checked beach zones.
