Location & Local Information
Vasylkiv lies on the banks of the Stuhna River, a small right tributary of the Dnipro that flows through a gently rolling landscape south of Kyiv. In the summer months, the water temperature in the Stuhna near Vasylkiv usually rises to around 20–24°C, sometimes a bit higher during prolonged warm spells. The river here is relatively narrow and slow-flowing, so it can warm up quickly, especially in shallow areas. These conditions make short swims and wading pleasant on hot days.
Locals often visit the riverbanks for picnics, fishing, or casual bathing, although there are no large organized beaches. The water is generally calm, and during dry, sunny periods it stays reasonably clear. However, after heavy rain, the Stuhna can become more turbid due to runoff from nearby slopes. Despite its modest size, the river offers a refreshing escape within walking distance from the town center, particularly in midsummer.
