Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 41°F (5°C) to 47°F (8°C). This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Vallentuna, north of central Stockholm, has a landscape scattered with small lakes and flowing streams, the most notable being Vallentunasjön. Surface temperatures in these inland waters follow the season: during spring (March–May) lakes typically range from about 0–10 °C (32–50 °F) as they thaw, early summer (June) often reaches 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), peak summer (July–August) commonly sees 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) and can rise in warm years, while autumn (September–November) cools back toward 5–15 °C (41–59 °F). In winter many lakes freeze and temperatures sit at or below 0 °C (32 °F). Rivers and flowing streams in the area are generally a few degrees cooler than still water, roughly 2–4 °C (4–7 °F) lower, especially where there is shading or groundwater influence.
Swimming is generally allowed in Vallentuna at designated bathing spots and municipal beaches because these locations are monitored for water quality and meet local regulations for recreational use; however, many smaller or private spots lack official supervision. Occasional cyanobacterial blooms or high bacterial counts after heavy rain can lead to temporary advisories against bathing, and there are usually no lifeguards at rural lakes, so swimmers should exercise caution. Ice swimming is practiced by some in winter but requires experience, safety measures and local knowledge about ice thickness.
