*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Uppsala (in Swedish - Uppsala) in Uppsala County is bordered by rivers and inland bays and lies close to several lakes where water temperature varies distinctly with the seasons. Typical surface temperatures in lakes and slow-moving stretches of rivers rise from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) in spring to peak values around 16–23 °C (61–73 °F) in midsummer, with the warmest weeks usually in July and early August. In early autumn temperatures generally fall to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). During winter many lakes freeze and open water is near 0 °C (32 °F), while some rivers such as the Fyrisån may retain slightly higher temperatures locally but are often close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where ice does not form.
Swimming in Uppsala’s lakes and rivers is commonly practiced and generally allowed for recreational use, supported by numerous public bathing spots and municipal facilities. Whether swimming is advisable depends on seasonal factors and local conditions: water quality is usually good but can be affected by algal blooms in warm late summers, currents or underwater obstacles in rivers may present hazards, and ice swimming should only be done at prepared sites with safety measures. Public access to many shorelines is facilitated by local rules of access, but users should observe signage and local guidance about water quality and safety.
