*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Södertälje, in Stockholm County, lies on the shores of Lake Mälaren and is traversed by rivers and the Södertälje Canal, and these inland waters show marked seasonal variation in temperature. In spring surface temperatures commonly rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the ice melts and the sun warms shallow bays. Through summer many sheltered parts of Mälaren and smaller lakes reach roughly 18–22 °C (64–72 °F), and during warm spells shallow bays can climb to 24–25 °C (75–77 °F). Rivers and the more open, flowing stretches of the canal are usually a few degrees cooler than sheltered lake bays, often ranging from the single digits in early spring to the mid teens or low twenties °C (40s–60s °F) in summer. In autumn temperatures fall back through the teens to around 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) before approaching freezing in winter.
Swimming in lakes and rivers around Södertälje is generally allowed and commonly practiced at municipal bathing sites and informal spots, thanks to public access rights and established bathing areas. Local authorities monitor water quality and post advisories for algal blooms or pollution, so swimmers should heed signage and official updates. Cold-water and ice swimming also occur but require appropriate safety measures and confirmed ice thickness. Currents in the canal and variable visibility in rivers make choosing designated beaches safer than open-channel swimming.
