It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Märsta and its immediate surroundings have a number of small inland lakes and slow rivers whose surface temperatures follow the typical Swedish inland pattern. In spring (April–May) water temperatures commonly range from about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as snowmelt and cold nights keep readings low. Early summer (June) usually warms to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while midsummer and warm spells (July–August) often see lake surfaces rise to about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), with occasional highs of 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in heatwaves. Rivers tend to stay a few degrees cooler than still water. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall back through 10–6 °C (50–43 °F) and by late autumn and winter surface water approaches freezing, often at or just above 0 °C (32 °F) before stable ice forms.
Swimming in Märsta’s lakes and rivers is generally allowed where public access exists and at designated bathing spots; inland waters are not legally closed to bathing but local municipalities monitor popular swimming areas for safety and water quality. The most comfortable season for recreational swimming is late June through August when temperatures are highest. Caution is needed in rivers because of currents and in shoulder seasons because of cold water shock; in winter swimming is only recommended where organised winter-bathing facilities exist and ice safety measures are observed.
