❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 41°F (5°C) to 47°F (8°C). This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Stockholm in Stockholm County has a wide seasonal spread in temperatures of its inland lakes and rivers. In early spring surface waters are cold, typically about 0–8 °C (32–46 °F) as ice melts and runoff cools shallow basins. By late spring and early summer many lakes and slow-moving rivers rise to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). Peak summer surface temperatures commonly reach 18–22 °C (64–72 °F) in open, sheltered lakes and can climb to 24–25 °C (75–77 °F) in shallow bays during heat waves. In autumn temperatures fall again to around 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), and in winter surface waters are often at or just above 0 °C (32 °F) when frozen; deeper or fast-flowing stretches may stay slightly warmer, typically 1–4 °C (34–39 °F).
Swimming in Stockholm’s lakes and rivers is generally permitted and widely practiced because of public access rights and many designated bathing sites with ladders, beaches and seasonal lifeguards at popular spots. Safety considerations and local water quality monitoring influence where and when people swim: currents, underwater hazards and transient pollution can make some river sections unsuitable, and frozen surfaces in winter prohibit normal bathing except at maintained ice-swim locations used by clubs and individuals with appropriate precautions. As always swimmers should check local conditions and signage before entering the water.
