** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ourense (in Spanish: Ourense) sits in inland Galicia where the landscape is shaped by rivers and reservoirs rather than large natural lakes. Water temperatures in those freshwater bodies vary with the seasons: in summer surface temperatures commonly reach about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), occasionally climbing a degree or two during heat spells; spring and autumn values tend to sit between roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F); in winter surface measurements often fall to about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Swimming in the reservoirs and designated river beaches is generally permitted during the warmer months because these sites are accessible, monitored for water quality, and often staffed with lifeguards or marked safe zones. Users should heed local signage about currents, water quality after heavy rain, and depth changes.
By contrast, Ourense is also famous for its thermal waters. Natural spring outlets can be very hot — often well above 40 °C (104 °F) and in some vents reaching temperatures that would cause scalding if entered directly — so raw springs are not suitable for unregulated bathing. For that reason municipal thermal pools, spa facilities, and adapted bathing areas temper the water to comfortable ranges (commonly 30–40 °C / 86–104 °F) where swimming or soaking is allowed under controlled conditions.
