*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Elda is an inland town in the province of Alicante, so there are no large natural lakes inside the urban area; nearby water bodies tend to be small reservoirs, irrigation ponds or artificial basins rather than recreational lakes. Water temperatures in these impounded, relatively shallow waters vary by season: in winter surface temperatures commonly fall to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), spring brings a rise into the 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) range, summer can warm the upper layers to about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) depending on exposure and depth, and autumn temperatures typically sit between 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) as cooling begins. Shallow, sunlit basins warm faster and can exceed the ranges above on heatwaves, while deeper reservoirs remain cooler.
Swimming in local reservoirs and artificial lakes around Elda is generally discouraged or formally prohibited in many locations for reasons of safety and water management. Restrictions aim to protect drinking or irrigation supplies, avoid hazards such as sudden drop-offs, submerged obstacles and boat traffic, and limit health risks from poor water quality or algal blooms. Where authorities do permit bathing, it is usually in specifically designated, monitored sites with signage and lifeguards; for safe recreational swimming residents commonly use municipal pools or the nearby Mediterranean beaches where conditions and water quality are managed for swimmers.
