*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The city of Ljubljana lies along the Ljubljanica River in central Slovenia, where the river flows calmly through urban areas, parks, and historical bridges. Being a lowland river in this part, the water warms up more in summer compared to alpine rivers. From June to August, surface temperatures in slower, shallower sections in Ljubljana usually reach 20–24°C, providing pleasant conditions for wading or informal dips. In spring and autumn, the water is cooler, typically around 12–16°C, while in winter it drops to 4–6°C.
Swimming directly in the Ljubljanica within the city is limited due to urban infrastructure, river traffic, and varying currents. Some calmer areas near green spaces or small riverbanks may be used for wading, and locals sometimes enjoy short, informal dips. Canoeing, kayaking, and floating on small rafts are popular summer activities along the river.
Outside the summer months, swimming is uncommon due to lower temperatures and occasional faster currents. Despite this, the river remains a central part of Ljubljana life, offering attractive spaces for walking, cycling, picnics, and enjoying cafés and parks along the banks. Even a brief dip in summer can provide a refreshing break from the heat.
