** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Udine sits inland in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, with swimming opportunities found in nearby lakes rather than within the city itself. Water temperatures in local lakes vary by depth, size and season: in spring (March–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). In summer (June–August) shallow and sheltered lakes can warm to roughly 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), while deeper alpine or basin lakes often remain cooler, typically 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Autumn (September–November) sees a decline to around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) and in winter (December–February) many lakes fall to 2–6 °C (36–43 °F), with some higher-altitude bodies approaching freezing.
Swimming is generally allowed at designated beaches and recreational areas around Udine when municipal signs indicate safe conditions, and local authorities often monitor water quality during the bathing season. Popular spots such as the Lago di Cavazzo have supervised and unsupervised bathing areas in summer. Restrictions may apply in protected reserves, on private shores, or when water quality or weather create hazards, so swimmers should follow posted rules. Cold-season swimming is possible but requires experience and precautions; most casual bathing is concentrated in the warmer months when temperatures are more comfortable and lifeguard or monitoring services are in place.
