** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Haskovo (Хасково) sits in southern Bulgaria near the Maritsa River and several reservoirs and smaller lakes in the province. Water temperatures in these inland bodies follow a continental pattern: in winter rivers and shallow lakes typically cool to around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F) and may partially freeze in calm, shallow spots; spring brings a rise to roughly 6–18 °C (43–64 °F) as runoff and air temperatures warm; summer is the warmest period, with many reservoirs and slow-flowing river sections commonly reaching about 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) on warm days; autumn sees a gradual decline to roughly 10–17 °C (50–63 °F). Larger, deeper reservoirs change temperature more slowly and often remain a few degrees cooler than shallow ponds or sheltered river bays.
Swimming in Haskovo’s rivers and lakes is possible in many locations, but it is subject to local restrictions and practical concerns. Designated beaches and recreational reservoirs generally permit swimming and are used in summer because of acceptable temperatures and monitored conditions; however, swimming in the main river channel can be discouraged due to currents, variable depth, water quality from agricultural runoff or upstream discharges, and the absence of lifeguards. Visitors should heed signage, local regulations and water-quality notices, and choose supervised or clearly designated swimming areas for safety.
