** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kazanlak (Bulgarian: Казанлък) sits in central Bulgaria along the Tundzha River and near the Koprinka reservoir, and its inland water bodies show clear seasonal variation in temperature. In winter rivers and reservoirs commonly approach near‑freezing values, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring warming brings typical ranges from about 6–16 °C (43–61 °F) as snowmelt and rains feed the system. By midsummer shallow parts of Koprinka and slow stretches of the Tundzha can warm to approximately 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), with deeper or faster flows generally several degrees cooler. In autumn temperatures decline again into a roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) band before winter cooling.
Swimming in Kazanlak’s lakes and river stretches is possible but conditional. Informal bathing and local recreational use are common in summer when temperatures are comfortable, yet there are no large supervised municipal beaches in the town itself; safety depends on access, depth, currents and water clarity. Local authorities may prohibit bathing after heavy rains or if water quality tests indicate contamination, and cold-season swimming is naturally limited by hypothermia risk. Visitors should check current local guidance and observe posted warnings, use designated spots where available, and exercise caution around currents and submerged hazards.
