*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pogradec (in Albanian: Pogradec) sits on the Albanian shore of Lake Ohrid, where surface water temperatures change noticeably through the year. In winter (December–February) surface temperatures typically hover around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). Spring (March–May) brings a warming trend, with averages roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F). The warmest months are June through August, when surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and sheltered bays can feel slightly warmer. Autumn (September–November) sees a gradual cooling back to about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). Because Lake Ohrid is deep, temperatures drop quickly with depth and colder water persists year-round below the surface.
Swimming in and around Pogradec is allowed and popular during the warm months, especially from late June to early September when surface temperatures are most comfortable for bathing. Municipal beaches, small resorts and rocky coves provide access, though amenities and supervision vary. Outside the summer season swimming is uncommon and not recommended due to low water temperatures and increased hypothermia risk; local advisories and signage should be observed for water quality or safety notices, and swimmers should account for sudden depth changes and variable conditions.
