** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Muga, a small river in Catalonia that rises in the Albera Range and reaches the Mediterranean, shows marked seasonal variation in water temperature because of its mountain sources and variable flow. Typical winter temperatures in the upper and shaded sections range from about 6–10 °C (43–50 °F), while spring usually warms to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F). In summer the lower, slower pools can reach roughly 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), although deeper or shaded stretches remain cooler. Autumn sees a transition back toward 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Actual values depend on local weather, depth, shading and recent rainfall, so temperatures can fluctuate year to year and from one reach to another.
Swimming in the Río Muga is commonly practiced in accessible pools and calmer stretches during the warmer months because public access is often allowed and the river forms natural bathing spots. However, there is no universal permission for all parts of the river: some sections are private, in protected areas, or bordered by infrastructure where swimming is restricted or unsafe. Safety and water quality can also vary — after heavy rains currents and contamination can be hazardous, and colder temperatures carry hypothermia risk. Visitors should follow local signage, seasonal rules and recent water-quality information before entering.
