Location & Local Information
The Svicha River, flowing in the western part of Ukraine (Carpathian / foothill region), likely has cold, clear water for much of the year because it is fed by mountain streams and rainfall. In early summer (May-June), the temperature of the water in most parts is probably around 10-14 °C. In July and August, on warm sunny days in shallow, slow-moving stretches, water might warm up to about 18-20 °C at the surface; yet deeper or faster current sections would remain noticeably cooler.
As for swimming, the Svicha could offer pleasant dips in selected spots: shallow banks, calmer bends, and places where the riverbed is smooth and safe. But it likely isn’t ideal for long swims, given colder temperature and possibly variable current. After rains, turbidity and flow speed can increase, making some areas less safe. So, swimmers would need to pick carefully: choose subdued stretches with gentle flow, check depth and water clarity, and avoid risky zones.
