** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Prut River starts in the Carpathian Mountains (in Ukraine), flows through Moldova, and forms a border with Romania. Because of its mountainous headwaters, water near the source tends to be cold — especially in spring or after rainfall and snowmelt. In summer, in lower, slower, more downstream sections, water may warm up to tolerable levels for swimming, perhaps into the upper teens °C (≈18-22 °C) on warm days in shaded or slower current stretches. But large parts of the river tend to remain cooler, especially where flow is swift or in shaded valleys.
Swimming in the Prut is complicated: officially, many stretches are not designated or permitted for bathing, particularly because of water quality concerns and the river’s role as a boundary. There are also issues with pollution in some areas. In contrast, there is a known reservoir (Costești-Stânca) on the Prut which is partly used for recreation, including bathing. So, in places where water is cleaner, access is safe, and current mild, people do bathe — but it depends heavily on local conditions.
