*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Opir River is a typical Carpathian mountain river, originating high in the mountains and serving as a right tributary of the larger Stryi River. Its mountainous source and rapid current directly influence the water temperature, which remains quite cool even during the peak of summer. In July and August, when lowland waters warm up to +22∘C and above, the Opir's temperature rarely exceeds +18 to +20∘C. More often, the water here is around +15 to +17∘C, making it refreshing but too cold for long, comfortable swimming for most unprepared individuals.
Due to its nature—fast currents, a rocky bottom, sharp changes in depth, and periodic increases in water level after rain—the Opir River poses a significant danger for unorganized swimming. Along its banks, there are generally no officially equipped beach areas where regular safety and water quality control would be conducted. Swimming here is generally not recommended and requires extreme caution, as the rapid current and cold water can easily cause vasoconstriction and hypothermia.
Thus, recreational opportunities on the Opir River focus not on traditional swimming but on active tourism. The Opir is very popular for rafting and kayaking, especially in spring and early summer when water levels are high. In the summer, the river serves as a picturesque location for relaxing by the water, picnics, and short refreshing dips in natural backwaters, but not for mass or prolonged swimming.
