The Secchia (Italian: Secchia) is a mid-sized river in Emilia-Romagna whose water temperature changes noticeably with the seasons. In winter the river tends to be cold, often between about 2 and 6 °C (36–43 °F) except during thaw or unusual warm spells. Spring temperatures typically rise from roughly 6 up to 16 °C (43–61 °F) as snowmelt and rain feed the flow. By summer, surface temperatures in calmer, shallower stretches can reach around 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), although deeper or faster sections remain cooler. During autumn the river cools again to roughly 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) as air temperatures fall and rainfall patterns change.
Swimming in the Secchia is possible in many local spots, but it is not uniformly recommended everywhere.
