*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Duero River, locally known as the Río Duero in Castile and León, shows marked seasonal and local variation in water temperature because of its continental climate, variable flow and impoundments. In winter surface temperatures typically range from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) in colder reaches; spring sees a rise toward roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as snowmelt and rain increase flows; summer surface temperatures in slower, shallow sections can reach about 16–24 °C (61–75 °F), though faster, deeper channels often remain cooler; autumn generally cools to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as runoff reduces. Temperatures fluctuate with depth, shade, weather and proximity to reservoirs or thermal discharges, so local readings can differ from these typical ranges.
Swimming in the Río Duero is possible in many calmer stretches and in formally designated river beaches (playas fluviales) where local authorities have assessed safety and water quality, but it is not universally permitted. Near dams, spillways, weirs, intake structures and some fast-flowing sections swimming is unsafe or prohibited because of strong currents, submerged hazards and infrastructure. Water quality may also vary with agricultural runoff or low flow, so swimmers should follow local signage, seasonal advisories and exercise caution regarding cold shock and currents even when temperatures seem moderate.
