*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wassermann Lake in Minnesota typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of shallow Midwestern lakes. In spring the surface water often rises from near freezing after ice-out to roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) as the lake mixes and warms. By mid to late summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 70–80°F (21–27°C) and can occasionally climb into the low 80s°F (around 27–29°C) on prolonged hot spells. In autumn the lake cools again, usually dropping into the 50s–60s°F (10–16°C) before ice forms. In winter the surface is generally at or below 32°F (0°C) and the lake may freeze over, making open-water swimming impossible.
Swimming during the warm months is generally permitted where public access points or designated beaches exist because summer surface temperatures reach levels comfortable for recreational swimming and access facilities support it. However, whether swimming is allowed at any specific site depends on local management, posted regulations and current water-quality or algae advisories; occasional blooms or bacterial issues can lead authorities to close a beach. In winter, swimming is not advised except for supervised, organized cold-water events with appropriate safety measures due to hypothermia and ice hazards. Always check current local conditions before entering the water.
