** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The lake of Uddjaur (Swedish: Uddjaur) in Norrbotten County experiences a pronounced seasonal cycle in water temperature due to its northern location. During the summer months surface temperatures commonly reach about 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) on warm days, while late spring and early summer are cooler at roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). By September the surface typically cools to around 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). In winter the lake is usually ice-covered and the water under the ice stays close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), effectively eliminating normal open-water swimming during that period.
Swimming at Uddjaur is therefore principally a summer activity when the lake is ice-free and temperatures are comfortable for brief recreational bathing. There are no unusual restrictions specific to the lake beyond general safety considerations, but the short warm season and rapid changes in weather mean swimmers should be cautious about cold-water shock and hypothermia. Some people practice winter ice-bathing with proper safety measures, but that requires experience, a companion, and access to cleared holes or maintained facilities. Overall, swimming is allowed in the warmer months, while winter conditions make traditional swimming impractical and potentially hazardous.
