** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Storvindeln (Swedish: Storvindeln) is a lake in Västerbotten County where water temperatures follow a clear seasonal pattern typical of northern Swedish inland waters. In winter the surface usually freezes and water beneath the ice remains close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). During spring melt the surface can range from near 0 up to about 8 °C (32–46 °F) as the sun warms shallower bays. In summer the lake commonly reaches 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) in open or sheltered areas and in warm, calm years small bays may briefly climb toward 22 °C (72 °F). In autumn temperatures decline again to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) before ice formation resumes.
Swimming in Storvindeln is generally permitted under Sweden’s right of public access and many people swim from shore, beaches or boats in summer when the water is warmest. However, swimmers should be aware of hazards: cold water can cause cold-shock and hypothermia even at temperatures below about 15 °C (59 °F), there may be local currents or submerged obstacles, and wind can quickly cool shallow areas. Where there are nearby rapids, dams or boat traffic, access may be restricted for safety. Using flotation aids, entering slowly to acclimatize and checking local conditions makes swimming safer.
