Water Temperature: Daily Trends, Historical Records, and Forecast
❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 47°F (8°C) to 50°F (10°C). This is still cool water, suitable only for experienced swimmers or those accustomed to cold water. Swimming in such conditions is possible, but not recommended for prolonged periods. Extra caution should be taken during extended exposure, as the cold water can cause heat loss and lead to hypothermia. For added comfort, special clothing can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. When the air temperature is below 68°F (20°C), and sometimes even below 77°F (25°C), swimming can be unpleasant even with relatively high water temperatures.

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Storglomvatnet (Norwegian: Storglomvatnet) is a large regulated mountain reservoir in Nordland County whose water temperature is generally low because of high elevation, snowmelt and inflows from cold mountain streams. Typical summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), with occasional warm spells pushing small surface areas toward 14–15 °C (57–59 °F) in rare years. In spring and autumn the lake is usually around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F) as seasonal melt and cooling dominate, while winter temperatures near the surface hover close to freezing, roughly 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) where ice forms or approaches formation.
Swimming in Storglomvatnet is physically possible but limited by safety and practical considerations. Cold water presents a real risk of cold shock and hypothermia, and because the lake is a regulated reservoir water levels and currents can change quickly near outlets and dams; those areas are often restricted for safety reasons. Recreational swimming is therefore best limited to sheltered shallow spots in warm months, ideally with thermal protection such as a wetsuit, careful supervision and local knowledge of reservoir operations; always heed posted signage and local guidance about permitted access.
