*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ramsgjelvatnet in Nordland is a typical northern Norwegian lake with relatively cold water year-round. Seasonal surface temperatures commonly range from around 0 °C (32 °F) in winter when the surface may freeze, through spring values often between 1–8 °C (34–46 °F) during snowmelt, to summer peaks typically in the 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) range on the warmest days. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). Because of its latitude, elevation and the influence of snow-fed inflows, the water rarely reaches the warm temperatures seen in more temperate regions, and visibility and currents can change quickly with weather.
Swimming in Ramsgjelvatnet is generally possible and permitted under Norway’s right to roam, but conditions make it more suitable for short dips, brisk swims or for those wearing wetsuits. Cold water presents a real risk of cold shock and hypothermia, so swimmers should be experienced in cold-water conditions, stay close to shore, avoid swimming alone and check for local access or safety signs. In winter the lake may be used for ice bathing where ice is thick and experts supervise, but that requires proper ice-safety knowledge and equipment.
