*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Spooner Lake’s surface temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern for small northern Wisconsin lakes. In spring (April–May) the water is cold, often in the mid-30s to mid-50s °F (about 2–13 °C) as snowmelt and cool air temperatures keep the lake chilly. Summer surface temperatures commonly warm into the upper 60s to upper 70s °F (roughly 20–26 °C), and in very warm, shallow areas can occasionally reach the low 80s °F (around 28 °C). By fall the surface cools back into the 50s–60s °F (10–18 °C) range, and in winter the lake typically freezes with sub-ice water temperatures close to 32–39 °F (0–4 °C) near the surface. Deeper water remains colder year-round, so actual temperatures vary with depth, weather and wind.
Swimming in Spooner Lake is generally possible and commonly practiced, but conditions and amenities vary by access point. Because it is a natural, often unguarded waterbody, there may be no lifeguards or formal beach facilities at every site, and water quality, temperature and underwater hazards can change seasonally; therefore swimming is typically allowed but at one’s own risk. Visitors should judge safety by current temperatures, clarity, local signage and personal comfort with cold water, and avoid prolonged exposure when surface temperatures are low.
