*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Snowbank Lake in Minnesota typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns seen in northern inland lakes. In spring the surface water warms from near-freezing after ice-out to roughly 35–55°F (2–13°C) as the season progresses. Summer surface temperatures commonly range from about 60–75°F (16–24°C) on warm days, though cooler spells and deeper pockets can remain colder. In autumn the lake cools back to roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) before freezing over, and during winter the water just below the ice is generally close to freezing, around 32–34°F (0–1°C), with deeper water staying slightly warmer but still cold compared with summer levels.
Swimming at Snowbank Lake is generally possible and is a common recreational activity during the warmer months where shoreline access exists. There are usually no blanket prohibitions on personal swimming, but conditions make it seasonal: the relatively cool summer temperatures, rapid cooling in spring and fall, and near-freezing winter water mean that comfortable and safe swimming is mainly limited to mid- to late-summer. Remote shoreline, lack of lifeguards, and potential for sudden cold-water immersion are reasons to be cautious—swimmers should check local signage, be prepared with flotation or a companion, and avoid swimming alone in marginal temperatures.
