❌ As of today, the minimum water temperature ranges from 41°F (5°C) to 47°F (8°C). This water temperature is still quite low, and swimming in such conditions may only be comfortable for hardened individuals. It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Prestvannet (Norwegian: Prestvannet) is a small, shallow lake on Tromsøya in Troms County, and its water temperatures reflect the subarctic maritime climate. Typical seasonal surface temperature ranges are roughly: winter — near freezing, around 0 °C (32 °F) with the lake often ice-covered; spring — about 1–8 °C (34–46 °F) as thaw progresses; summer — typically 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) on the warmest days; and autumn — cooling back through about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) toward freezing. Because the lake is shallow and exposed, temperatures can change quickly with weather, and deeper pockets may differ slightly but generally remain cool compared with more southerly lakes.
Swimming at Prestvannet is not formally prohibited and people do take dips in summer, but it is not a supervised bathing site. The area is a designated nature reserve with sensitive birdlife and reedbeds, so swimmers should avoid disturbing habitats and heed local signs during breeding seasons. Cold water, sudden weather changes and a muddy, uneven bottom increase the risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia, so short swims, wetsuits and caution are advisable. There are no lifeguards or extensive facilities, so solo or unsupported swimming is generally not recommended.
